Archie Tulk shares new single 'White Bee'

Archie Tulk’s latest single 'White Bee' takes the restless ache of long-distance love and translates it into a richly detailed arrangement where jazz, art-pop and orchestral writing all seem to tug in different directions at once.

At the centre is his warm baritone, delivered with a calmness that contrasts beautifully with the busier world around it. Piano and drums work through clipped, off-kilter patterns, creating a groove that feels playful without becoming lightweight. Strings, winds, harp and saxophone then expand the track outward, giving it a sense of scale while preserving the intimacy of the songwriting.

But what makes ‘White Bee’ particularly impressive is the balance. His own background as a composer is obvious in the density and care of the arrangement, but the track never feels like an academic exercise. The orchestration serves the song rather than overwhelming it, and the melodic instinct underneath everything keeps the piece accessible.

There are moments where the music feels broad and almost cinematic, followed by others that draw sharply inward. That push and pull mirrors the emotional contradiction at the heart of long-distance connection: someone can feel impossibly far away and overwhelmingly present at exactly the same time.

As the first major introduction to forthcoming debut album 'Human Noise', ‘White Bee’ makes a strong impression. Inventive, intimate and beautifully arranged, it shows Archie Tulk bringing his compositional instincts into a pop framework without sanding down their complexity.
