ARTIST OF THE WEEK: No. 31 Dear Desert

After the release of their debut EP 'Gift Above' brought them critical acclaim in their home nation of Ireland at the end of last year, wistful pop trio Dear Desert are now looking to spread their humbly nostalgic sound to the rest of the world.

Taking the atmospheric and emotion-driven love songs of the 1980s as a template, Dear Desert have given the forgotten sound a more contemporary twist and the result is one of the most intriguing and absorbing bands we have heard in months.

With influences stretching as far back as Duran Duran and David Bowie intertwined with the more modern sounds of James Blake and Twin Shadows, the 'Gift Above' EP delivers a powerful and engaging introduction to a band that we are sure will be doing great things over the next year.
