For the last decade, the music industry has always looked to the internet to find its next big star. Acts like Justin Bieber and Paloma Faith were hugely popular on YouTube before signing a major record deal, and 19-year-old Canadian Alessia Cara looks to be the next name to cross that threshold.
After first sharing her talent online at the age of 13, Cara had already amassed a huge global fanbase when she signed for Def Jam Recordings earlier this year. And since then, her profile has already surpassed her own expectations.
Having yet to release a single song, she has been pipped by MTV and Billboard as the next big name in music, as well as featuring as the musical guest on hit late night talk show Jimmy Fallon earlier this month.
Alessia Cara is due to release a new EP, entitled 'Four Pink Walls', on the 28th August as a precursor to her debut album later in the year. Have a listen to her first single 'Here' below.
