Getting To Know... Don't Connect

Following on from a flurry of bold and exciting releases over the last year, London-based collective Don't Connect are back once again to deliver their vibrant new delight 'Dead Ideas'.

Teaming up with fellow artist Flyboy Jetty for the release and lifted from their forthcoming debut album of the same name, 'Dead Ideas' showcases more of that fresh and dynamic direction to group have been pursuing these last few months. With a bright and shimmering atmosphere, driven flow, and catchy hooks layered throughout, this is definitely one that will get stuck in your head all day.

So with the new single available now, we sat down with them to find out more about their origins and what has been inspiring them recently.

What was the first instrument you fell in love with?

My acoustic guitar.

What kind of music did you love when you were younger?

Rizzle Kicks

What was the first album you remember owning?

Stereo Typical

What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?

Let It Be – The Beatles

Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?

I usually play around with a guitar or a bass until I find something I like.

Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?

I listen to a lot of Jazz, and can't remember most of the band names. Experimental/alt contemporary rock/hip-hop/pop is a big one too.

If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?

What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?

Bringing ideas to life.

And what is the most frustrating part?

Time.

And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?

Ignore the industry.
