Italian-born, London-based artist Gionatan Scali marks a major milestone in his creative journey with the release of ‘Best Self’, the grunge-infused indie anthem that also serves as the title track of his upcoming third studio album. The single reflects on a decade of life, growth, and artistic reinvention since Scali relocated to the UK in 2015, capturing the emotional weight of those formative years.
Built around punchy guitars, layered distortion, and a raw vocal performance, ‘Best Self’ blends late-2000s indie grit with modern production touches. The track channels the restless energy of contemporary indie rock while drawing inspiration from artists like Geese and Kurt Vile, creating a sound that feels both nostalgic and forward-looking.
So with the new single out now, we sat down with him to find out more about his origins and what has been inspiring him most over the years.
