Switzerland’s alternative rock scene may be small, but it just got a whole lot louder with the return of Glaascats. Emerging from Fribourg with a sound that balances dreamlike fragility and visceral force, the band has steadily carved out their own lane in the indie-rock ether since their 2019 formation. Now, with the release of their mesmerising new album 'Dust', Glaascats present a deeply introspective and cinematic body of work, and at the heart of it is their latest single ‘Anesthesia’.
Crafted over a transformative two-year period and nearly lost in the process, ‘Anesthesia’ is a song born of evolution, uncertainty, and ultimately, creative persistence. Its ethereal textures and emotional undercurrents offer a window into the band’s internal world; one shaped by shifting seasons, solitary travels, and the fragile, fading connection between humanity and nature. It’s this duality between the light and the shadow, the isolation and the awakening, that defines Glaascats’ sound.
So with the new album available to stream now, we sat down with them to find out more about their origins and what has inspired them most over the years.
