Off the back of their raucous headline set at Scala, rising art-pop troublemakers Home Counties have unwrapped a sharp-tongued festive single ‘Better Last Year (Home Counties For Christmas)’.
Produced by the band’s own Conor Kearney and debuted live at Scala, the track channels the dual-voiced melancholy of 'Fairytale of New York' with a self-aware dig at small-town reunions, seasonal malaise, and hometown regret. With Lois and Will trading vocals, the song captures the bittersweet sting of growing older and watching the Christmas magic fade, all wrapped in a boozy, synth-laced indie package.
They’ll bring their chaotic Christmas energy to The George Tavern on the 17th December for a special fundraiser for Palestine. The band have also been confirmed as main support for Franz Ferdinand’s 2026 UK tour.
