Ivor Novello Award-winning singer-songwriter and producer Orla Gartland has announced that she has written and performed the soundtrack for the fifth season of the acclaimed Apple TV+ comedy-drama Trying. To mark the news, she has shared the first song from the project, ‘At The End Of The Day’.
The full soundtrack will arrive on the 8th July, coinciding with the premiere of the new season, and features collaborations with Matt Maltese, Liang Lawrence and Martin Luke Brown. Gartland follows previous soundtrack contributors including Guy Garvey, Maisie Peters, Bear’s Den and BEKA.
Written to accompany the closing scenes of each episode, the collection explores themes of family, love and personal growth. While initially inspired by the journeys of the show’s characters, Gartland found her own experiences increasingly shaping the songs as the project developed.
Lead single ‘At The End Of The Day’ reflects on enduring relationships and the complexities of long-term love. Built around warm acoustic textures, soaring strings and subtle synth flourishes, the track captures a sense of affection forged through shared history and imperfect circumstances.
