Soft Set deliver new single 'Diamond'

After the rousing success of their stunning debut EP 'Love and Dancing' in 2020, Toronto-based duo Soft Set are continuing their vibrant ascent with the breezy new single 'Diamond'.

Linking up with the previously shared effort 'More More More' in previewing their eagerly-awaited debut studio album 'Still Life', which is set to arrive later this year, 'Diamond' makes for a wonderfully rich and sweeping listen. Channelling a broad and adventurous approach to the shoegaze sound, their latest endeavour sees them explore a warm and effervescent atmosphere, jam-packed with euphoric textures throughout.

Speaking about the new offering, the band's James Gray said, “We heard of this story of a boy who killed his mother and then himself in Jefferson Township, NJ, in the late 80s and the whole story was just so bizarre. He seemed to be a good kid and all of that changed within a matter of months leading up to the tragic night when everything changed. It’s a fascinating story and there’s a great podcast called ‘The Devil Within’ that explores what happened and what possibly drove this boy to do what he did. Check it out!”

With ringing endorsements from so many with the progressive post-punk movement of late, it feels like Soft Set are due to become one of the most talked-about new arrivals on the scene in the months to come. With fresh and inviting energy running the length of this new release, it certainly feels like we are experiencing he dawn of something very exciting.
