Yellow Days - 'Harmless Melodies'

9/10

We were first switched onto the sounds of Yellow Days just a few months ago, and there was just something about his direction that intrigued us so we had to check out his debut release. With the voice of a soul legend and the production of Massive Attack, Yellow Days has given us a whopping seven-track EP to introduce himself and it certainly takes our breath away throughout.

While it is hard to precisely pin down the style of his music, effectively it can be described as mood-driven harmonies over an authentic production. And if that sounds too vague, that's because his diverse influences have created something quite unique. 'Harmless Melodies' has this intrinsic sound that makes it appear decades old, but will then throw something into the mix that propels it into the 21st century with immense gusto.

From all the acts we have looked to expose and gather interest around this year, Yellow Days definitely sits near the top of that list as one of the most memorable we have heard so far. From his direction and style, to his song-writing and immaculate voice, he is a one-of-a-kind that we can't wait to hear more from.
