ARTIST OF THE WEEK: No.402 - Jackie Hayes

Following on from the release of her highly-praised EP 'There’s Always Going To Be Something' last year, as well as recent support slots with Claud, Sunflower Bean, and The Regrettes, fast-rising Jackie Hayes has now returned to deliver her first piece of new material for 2022, 'Bite Me'.

Bringing back more of that brash and driven aesthetic she has been cultivating herself, 'Bite Me' sees her deliver a fresh and intoxicating new release. Sitting somewhere between 'Is This It?'-era Strokes and blistering surf-rock energy, her newest offering showcases her as a truly vivid and distinctive name emerging on the scene right now.

Speaking about 'Bite Me', she said, “‘Bite Me’ is really just about anxiety. Whenever I’m anxious, which is often, I have a million irrational thoughts springing into my mind in rapid succession. I decided to just write them all down, even if some of them didn’t make sense together thematically. It’s just everything I was feeling at the time. It's okay if people want to make their own meanings of the song.”
