CHILDCARE - 'Busy Busy People'

7/10

After the release of their glorious 2019 LP 'Wabi Sabi', post-punks CHILDCARE found themselves riding a wave of buzz and acclaim that established them as a force to be reckoned with on the new music scene. But with the coronavirus outbreak stifling their plans to get out and tour the record as much as they could, they found themselves needing to continue and progress along their creative journey. And from those troubling days, we got their captivating sophomore album 'Busy Busy People', a record that sees them grow out of their shell and spread their creative wings.

One thing that has always been appealing about CHILDCARE is how they create these shimmering hooks that never rely on bold or soaring production to get them to make an impact. Much like the tone we get from contemporaries such as Metronomy, the smooth and driven pace of these songs is more than enough to keep you glued to the release. Each new offering has this warm and inviting aesthetic to it, which creates not only a diverse and adventurous texture from start to finish, but also perfectly suits their abstract aesthetic, something we rarely see from bands of their ilk.

They may not have had the start most outfits get, but CHILDCARE are still proving their worth on this new collection. 'Busy Busy People' is a broad and enticing release that focuses on their own distinctive direction like a laser beam and delivers a highly enjoyable listen throughout.
