Jamie Woon - 'Making Time'

7/10

After releasing his stunning debut album 'Mirrorwriting' back in 2011, the camp of Jamie Woon went suddenly very quiet. Occasionally reappearing to feature on tracks for the likes of Disclosure and BANKS, the singer-producer seemed to have vanished just as quickly as he appeared. But almost out of nowhere, Woon has returned with another awe-inspiring album with all the rich harmonies you would expect.

With a strong influence of US RnB production, 'Making Time' aims to be the ultimate comeback for Jamie Woon. It's big and bold sounds serve as a wake up for all of his fans new and old, and show that he is far from being a forgotten name. Lead single 'Sharpness' still proves to be the biggest highlight of this new release, but the rest still has an incredibly honed feeling to it, showing that Woon has spent a lot of time upping his game for his return.

While the record may not have the same instant impact as his debut, it does show a great advancement of his chosen direction and his ability to evolve his sound. Strong and determined, 'Making Time' is a fantastic comeback record.
