Ever since they first emerged on the scene, both JPEGMAFIA and Danny Brown have been seen as two of the more forward-thinking names on the alternative rap scene this past decade. Both known for pushing the envelope when it comes to sound and flow within their music, they have spent the last few years churning out some brilliantly adventurous cuts that feel far more distinctive than most. So it only makes sense that these two would eventually come together to produce a collaborative release, resulting in their dual studio album 'SCARING THE HOES', a record that perfectly reflects their own experimental nature.
Largely produced by JPEGMAFIA himself, 'SCARING THE HOES' instantly launches itself out of the gate with a frenzy of blistering electronics and quickfire verses that rarely let up for its fourteen-track runtime. Keeping the energy and tenacity as high as possible throughout, this new collaborative collection makes for an incredibly intriguing and uncompromising listen. With each rapper adding an equally aggressive performance to match the record's grizzled sound from beginning to end, it feels like one of their most unbridled offerings to date.
While individually they are two of the best rappers around, together feels like a match made in heaven. Both use the energy of the other to up their game throughout 'SCARING THE HOES', delivering a brilliantly fun and technicolour effort that feels like nothing else doing the rounds right now.
