Saint Raymond - 'We Forgot We Were Dreaming'

7/10

Since the release of his highly-praised and loved debut album 'Young Blood' in 2015, progressive pop artist Saint Raymond has been seldom seen in recent years. Despite scoring a top 10 spot for his initial effort, he chose to keep his subsequent releases minimal in size and explore a number of collaborative endeavours instead. But while he has kept himself out of the limelight of late, he has now returned to deliver his long-awaited sophomore LP 'We Forgot We Were Dreaming', a record that shows that he is far from losing his edge.

What Saint Raymond has always had that most pop artists seem to miss, is a genuine creative identity that separates him from much of his counterparts. He has this very clean and polished direction that never seems to copy or pursue anyone else's direction, giving him an instantly engaging style. This is exactly what we get to hear again on 'We Forgot We Were Dreaming', and shows us that those six years under the radar were not in vain. The album has this fresh and exciting sound to it that never gives us, and shows him in the most confident guise of his career to date.

There is no doubt that Saint Raymond continues to be one of the UK's most prized pop artists, and this full-length is just more proof of that. He has returned with a strong and vibrant collection of broad ideas, something that will no doubt continue his progressive intentions, and hopefully we won't have to wait so long before the next one.
