Over the last few years, William Doyle completely mesmerised us with his East India Youth project. Filling two albums with some of the most inventive and creative compositions we have heard in years, the outfit was a testament to a musical artist finding inspiration in the most unlikely of places and still delivering a unique perspective at almost every turn. But as he now reverts to his given name, we are being introduce to a far more intimate and poignant collection in the form of 'Your Wilderness Revisited', a record that continues his creative ambition but through a far more abstract lens.

While East India Youth was birthed through a love of diverse krautrock and electro-pop, William Doyle prefers to see himself as a more experimental and adventurous individual. Taking cues from retro acts like Brian Eno, as well as contemporaries such as Tune-Yards, 'Your Wilderness Revisited' looks to bridge the gap between multifaceted indie-rock and radio-friendly alt-pop, creating a strange blend of easy-to-digest singles that have this strong edge of artistic intensity. Inspired heavily by the work of broadcaster Jonathan Meades, who regularly found beauty in the ordinary, the release looks to capture the same wistful enthusiasm that the everyday holds for us.

While the sound of this new project may have changed, the sheer love of exploring new and fascinating ideas reminds the sole focus for William Doyle. 'Your Wilderness Revisited' has this subtle blend of soaring beauty and intricate songwriting that makes for a simply fascinating listen, one that you will find hard to compare elsewhere.
