The Amazing - 'Ambulance'

7/10

There is no denying that the Swedish music scene is one of the most progressive in the world, and one of their most eclectic outfits The Amazing have now returned with their fourth full-length 'Ambulance'. And while its title does have connotations of ill-health, the band are thriving better than ever as they deliver an incredibly relaxed and though-provoking release.

With a brooding and atmospheric introduction in the form of the title-track, 'Ambulance' finds itself in a consistent mellow tone. While it does occasionally break convention throughout, the general slow-and-steady pace creates an incredibly cohesive release that makes it very easy to slip into. It never intends to distract but you do find yourself falling for their sound every so often, something that makes this record so enticing.

A confident and progressive return from these guys, who have spent the best part of their career pushing their direction. 'Ambulance' is nothing but a continuation of their sound to date, and a positive one at that.
