ARTIST OF THE WEEK: No.267 - Young Guv

Having made a name for himself as the guitarist in progressive punk outfit Fucked Up these last few years, Ben Cook has recently revived with solo project Young Guv and unveiled a sprawling double-album that has been seen as a remarkable departure from his formative outfit.

While he is known for ferocious pace and grinding rhythms, Young Guv sees him channel the woozy and laid-back aesthetic of artists like Ariel Pink and Teenage Fanclub with a wonderfully chilled elegance. And after a wave of impressive singles already this year, he has now dropped an expansive 19-track double album filled to the brim with gloriously blissful work.

Featuring the previously shared tracks 'Every Flower I See' and 'Patterns Prevail', his new double-LP 'Guv I' and Guv II' are simply excellent in their execution of mild yet enticing lo-fi indie-rock. With his sweeping vocals penetrating at every turn, these new releases are set to see him break out of his Fucked Up shell and into a whole new scene entirely.

'Guv I' and 'Guv II' are available to stream and download from today, and you can check out the video for 'Every Flower I See' in the player below.
