ARTIST OF THE WEEK: No.380 - Rubber Oh

After originally cementing himself as the guitarist and producer of Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs, Sam Grant has now begun to pursue his own solo venture Rubber Oh, announcing the details of their debut album 'Strange Craft'.

While sonically very different to his formative outfit, Rubber Oh still maintain plenty of bold and inventive ideas. Previewed by the new single 'Nothing', the band pursue a broad and breezy indie-rock direction, brimming with shimmering ideals that almost see them venture into psych-rock territory.

Speaking about the new offering, Grant said, "Ultimately, ’Nothing’ is a song about the weight of thought, and the freedom in letting go. But the lyrics are meant to sit in a space that’s both optimistic and hopeful, and equally readable as pessimistic and futile - playing with the ideas of dualism and Nihilism. There’s an alluring sense of the Optimistic Nihilist in the track - that prospect of knowing your own inconsequence could be liberating. But it’s always tethered to the paradoxes that creates."

Rubber Oh's debut album 'Strange Craft' will be released on the 3rd June, and you can check out 'Nothing' in the player below.
