London alt quartet Speedial have announced their debut EP 'Light Of The Late Night', set for release on the 23rd 23rd, and unveiled its lead single 'An Altar', a textured, introspective track that dives deep into the tension between faith, doubt, and personal yearning.
“‘An Altar’ picks apart my relationship with religion,” says vocalist Serena Garrod. “It’s about wanting to believe, wanting to feel held by something bigger, but knowing that kind of faith can’t be forced.” Inspired by gospel music, Sunny Day Real Estate, and vocalist Jeremy Enigk’s personal journey, the track blends fragile harmonies with intricate instrumentation, driven by the band’s signature mix of post-rock, shoegaze, jazz fusion, and math rock.
Produced by Joseph Futak (Tapir!, lilo), the EP captures Speedial’s evolution through live performance and experimentation. With growing acclaim and roots in London’s underground scene, 'Light Of The Late Night' marks Speedial as a compelling new voice in UK alternative music.
