Domino Recording Company has officially welcomed Atlanta punk force Upchuck to its roster, marking the occasion with the release of their blistering new single 'Plastic'. Produced and mixed by Ty Segall and mastered by Heba Kadry, the track arrives alongside a chaotic, kaleidoscopic video directed by Ian Cone.
A ferocious two-minute detonation of snarling guitars and no-holds-barred vocals, 'Plastic' crystallises the band’s uncompromising ethos: authenticity in a synthetic world. “Algo me hace falta (‘something is missing’),” wails drummer and co-vocalist Chris Salado during the Spanish-language breakdown, before vocalist KT throws down the gauntlet with a rallying cry for self-awareness and truth. “Know classics — know truths — know reason — know you.”
Formed in 2018 by a crew of Atlanta skaters in their early twenties, Upchuck have built a reputation on visceral live shows and a sound that blends punk, hardcore, and a deep-rooted Southern urgency. Their early output, including debut album Sense Yourself (2022) and Bite The Hand That Feeds (2023, also produced by Segall), earned praise from icons like Iggy Pop and Henry Rollins, and caught the attention of Vogue for their “die-hard attitude” and The Fader for their “lightning-hot bursts of energy.”
The band’s momentum has only intensified with tour dates alongside Faye Webster, OSEES, Soul Glo, and Amyl & The Sniffers, capped off with a volcanic performance at Coachella 2024. As Rolling Stone put it: “The club becomes a sonic cannon, set to maximum destruction.”
With 'Plastic' setting the tone for a new chapter under Domino, Upchuck are poised to ignite even bigger stages without losing an ounce of the fire that made them unmissable in the first place.
