ARTIST OF THE WEEK: No.9 SOPHIE

With all these new artists coming out with their obvious nods to past influences and inspirations, it is very refreshing to find an artist that is cutting her own sound and style in today's music scene, and doing it so effortlessly well. Britain's own SOPHIE has been gathering the attention of the world's music press for some time now but it seems like this is only the beginning to where she is heading.

After first getting noticed by Radio 1 DJ Annie Mac last year, the leftfield pop producer has quickly amassed a loyal following of both humble fans and those in the know. She signed up to Jackmaster's Numbers label later that year and pushed out her first double A side single 'Bipp/Elle', which so far has managed hundreds of thousands of hits on her Soundcloud. Her latest singles 'Lemonade/Hard' have seen her take on a far more unconventional sound and ultimately giving her one of most bonkers styles on the scene at the moment.

In recent days, we have learned that she is working on a new project with super-producers Diplo and AG Cook called QT, which is already sounding like one of the most outlandish projects in the last few years. It may still be early days for SOPHIE but her cult following is already so transfixed on her work that we are positive she will still be wowing us in the years to come.
