Nashville-based singer-songwriter Aubory Bugg has announced her debut album, "i think i had something once", due for release on September 18th via Dualtone Records. Alongside the announcement, the 21-year-old has shared its latest single, "nosedive".
Built around soaring guitars and Bugg's crystalline vocals, "nosedive" reflects on the fallout of a relationship ending with equal parts vulnerability and wit. Speaking about the track, Bugg says it was inspired by "a former partner put me in a very awkward situation," explaining that writing the song became the only way to make sense of the experience.
The forthcoming album explores themes of identity, grief, love and leaving home, capturing a formative period in Bugg's life as she found her place within Nashville's thriving creative community.
Originally from a blue-collar steel town in Illinois, Bugg began performing in local coffee houses at just 13 before finding a wider audience online. A viral TikTok cover helped her gain more than 110,000 followers overnight, but rather than continue posting covers, she turned her attention to original music. That decision has seen her build a loyal following of more than 187,000 on the platform, while also earning a support slot on Courtney Marie Andrews' tour.
"nosedive" is available now, with i think i had something once arriving on September 18 via Dualtone Records.
