BEOM - 'HOME'

7/10

There’s something immediately striking about a debut that feels this fully realised, and with his first full-length release, 'BEOM' arrives with a rich, immersive body of work that reflects years of musical discipline, curiosity, and fearless experimentation.

At its core, 'HOME' is built on contrast. There’s a fluid interplay between organic musicianship and digital architecture, where intricate low-end movement meets shimmering synth layers and finely tuned rhythmic drive. It’s a sound that feels both meticulously constructed and effortlessly expressive, as if each element has been allowed to evolve naturally within a carefully designed framework.

What sets BEOM apart is the depth of musicality underpinning the project. You can hear his background in jazz in the way the songs breathe. There’s space in the arrangements, with room for tension, release, and subtle shifts that keep us engaged far beyond surface-level hooks.

'Gravity' stands out as a vibrant centrepiece, bursting with kinetic energy and genre fluidity. It moves with a sense of momentum that feels almost elastic, stretching and snapping back in unexpected ways while maintaining a strong melodic core. It’s bold, dynamic, and undeniably infectious.

In contrast, 'My Moon (달아)' drifts into more introspective territory, unfolding like a late-night skyline viewed through glass. The textures here feel more expansive, with a quiet intensity that lingers beneath the surface. It’s a track that showcases BEOM’s ability to shift emotional gears without losing cohesion.

What’s most impressive, however, is the sense of identity that runs through the entire project. Despite pulling from a wide spectrum of influences, the album never feels scattered. Instead, it holds together through a clear artistic vision that prioritises mood, detail, and emotional resonance over easy categorisation.

For a debut collection, 'HOME' is remarkably assured. It’s the sound of an artist who has spent years honing their craft and is now ready to present it without compromise.
