Beth Orton continues to build anticipation for her forthcoming record 'The Ground Above' with a newly unveiled live performance of 'Waiting'.
Captured at Fish Factory Studios earlier this year, the stripped-back session offers a closer look at the collaborative spirit behind the track. Originally one of the first songs shared with her band during the album’s early sessions, 'Waiting' has evolved across time, and here, it feels reimagined yet rooted, balancing spontaneity with quiet control.
Directed by Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard alongside Joseph Lynn, the video captures Orton in a state of transition, an artist leaning into instinct and rediscovery rather than refinement alone.
The track itself sits at the emotional core of 'The Ground Above', a record shaped by themes of endurance, identity and renewal. Like its predecessor 'Weather Alive', the project leans on live interplay, giving the songs a tactile, almost in-the-room immediacy.
