The Big Moon - 'Walking Like We Do'

8/10

When The Big Moon introduced themselves with their debut album 'Love In The 4th Dimension' back in 2017, it was heralded as a breath of fresh air within the British music scene. While surrounded by a number of other promising and impactful records during that year, the band's first effort stood above the clouds as a clear and progressive example of what the scene had been working towards for the last few years. And after some time to regroup, they are back with their latest offering 'Walking Like We Do', a record that looks to reflect the turbulent and troubled times we now live in.

While the political and social elements of the album remain more subtle than we have seen from other artists in recent times, it is the group exploration of electronic additions that is the most head-turning element of this new collection. Their debut remained more basic and organic in its production, whereas 'Walking Like We Do' is far more diverse in that regard. Looking for a fresh angle in which to deliver their direction, this new approach seems to have done them a lot of favours as we get to hear The Big Moon reenergised in their sound, creating the dynamic and exciting return that we all knew they were capable of.

From the very start, 'Walking Like We Do' is looking to tread that fine line between giving fans more of what they expect and showcasing a new avenue for the band to explore, which they seem to have pulled off throughout. A bold and eclectic new release that looks to cement them evermore as a staple of this country's thriving indie music scene.
