Canned Pineapple unveil their vibrant new EP

After establishing themselves as one of the more exciting names on the Brighton scene, indie outfit Canned Pineapple now return to deliver their highly anticipated new EP 'Big Break' (March 21st).

Channelling the same bright and energetic direction as acts like LCD Soundsystem, this new six-track collection makes for a wonderfully enticing listen. Produced by Tom Rees (Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard/The Bug Club/Panic Shack), 'Big Break' showcases their trademark scuzzy power-pop soundscapes, infectious melodies, and tongue-in-cheek lyricism, all underpinned by a unique blend of psychedelia and nostalgic doo-wop sensibilities.

Speaking about the EP, the band explain: "'Big Break' is our tongue in cheek exploration of the idea that a band can 'make it' in the modern world and whether or not it's just a fallacy exclusive to being printed in history. We're approaching the start to our fourth year as a band and the last three have been a total rollercoaster. With extreme highs and lows, 'Big Break' highlights a culmination of experiences we've had as a band, as housemates and as brothers, growing into adults together while in each other's pockets as well as the pursuit for something bigger. We give you another six: party people, sing all night, run on the ceiling rock tunes and It's our proudest, most honest work yet. We hope it resonates with you as much as it does for us."

From the rousing pub sing-along swagger of opener 'Jessie Met Jane' to the effortless Pavement-esque slacker rock brilliance of 'Georgia', each track on the EP solidifies Canned Pineapple's rising status within the scene. Their sound masterfully weaves 60s nostalgia with 90s Britpop sensibilities, conjuring the spirit of Supergrass while capturing The Libertines' raw, poetic energy and DIY ethos. It's a delightful concoction of wry observation, melodic charm, and irresistible hooks that demand repeated listens.

With an impressive year already behind them, including sharing stages with LCD Soundsystem, The National, and The Last Dinner Party, plus slots at New Colossus Festival in New York, Canned Pineapple are quickly becoming one of the more intriguing names to emerge in recent years. With a relentless touring schedule ahead, including stops at FiftyLab Festival and Third Man Records, we can't wait to hear where this adventure takes them next.
