Rising UK four-piece Divorce have returned with 'O Calamity', their first release since the acclaimed debut album 'Drive to Goldenhammer' dropped in March. The track emerges as a reflective moment in what’s already shaping up to be a banner year for the Nottingham band.
Written years before the band found their current form, 'O Calamity' is a piece of the past reimagined for the present. Co-vocalist Tiger Cohen-Towell recalls sketching the early lyrics during a bar shift six years ago, long before the band’s current momentum. “It feels like an absolute world away,” she says, “but good songs never get old.”
While 'Drive to Goldenhammer' saw Divorce cement themselves as one of the UK’s most compelling new voices, earning critical acclaim and a sold-out headline at London’s KOKO, 'O Calamity' takes a more personal turn. It’s a tender, stripped-back track that carries the rawness of youth with the polish of hindsight, offering fans a glimpse into the band’s earliest songwriting.
