Dreamer Boy - 'All The Ways We Are Together'

7/10

After making a huge impression with his debut album 'Love, Nostalgia' in 2018, Nashville native Zach Taylor's Dreamer Boy project was greeted as one of the most refreshing new additions to the landscape that year. With his distinctly vibrant take on the alt-pop sound, his initial material established him as a bold and exciting name beaming with confidence and new ideas. Now after a few years to figure out his next moves, he has returned to deliver his follow-up collection 'All The Ways We Are Together', a record that looks to offer us something less sombre than most.

While the opening title-track leads us to believe this new album will be a more solemn affair than what we were expecting, it is simply a subtle way of getting us used to the temperature of this new release. Ambient and atmospheric in equal measure, he has taken the fresh and uplifting style of his debut LP and given it a more humbled intention, giving us this bright and enjoyable listen that isn't too keen on shouting about its beauty. While it does have the odd moment of upbeat energy to it, the majority of 'All The Ways We Are Together' is all about washing over you and leaving you feeling more content about the state of the world than you were at the beginning.

Dreamer Boy may not be the most well-known of acts on the pop spectrum right now, but this new record is something very special from him. It definitely has the potential to see him grow from a humble beginning to something much bigger, a place he so thoroughly deserves to be right now.
