DZ Deathrays drop new single 'Sideways'

Just in time for their summer run of European and UK dates, Australian dance-punk powerhouses DZ Deathrays have released their latest single 'Sideways'.

Brimming with chaotic riffs, propulsive percussion, and a woozy sense of motion, 'Sideways' channels the band’s signature blend of brash energy and tongue-in-cheek swagger. “It almost makes you feel like you’re on a speedboat on the verge of getting sea sick but the adrenaline is keeping you focused,” says frontman Shane Parsons. The track’s riff, dreamt up by bandmate Lachlan Ewbank, spirals into a joyride of distorted euphoria.

The accompanying video, shot on a scenic farm and supported by Bundaberg Regional Council, sees the band embrace their DIY roots with playful abandon, a fitting visual for a song that’s equal parts dizzying and euphoric.
