Swedish artist Ellen Benediktson leans fully into emotional chaos on WID4L, a five-track EP that turns obsession, jealousy, self-sabotage, and destructive love into something both glamorous and unsettling. Blending indie-pop and electro-pop with darker, more volatile production, the project feels like a natural but riskier evolution from Good Girl.
The EP’s strongest moment is “Only Lovers,” a bittersweet focus track that captures the record’s central idea: romanticizing pain as proof that love was real. Its tense verses and euphoric chorus perfectly mirror the emotional highs and lows Benediktson explores throughout the project. Elsewhere, “Jealousy” stands out for its brutally honest writing, while “i’m that girl” pushes back against expectations of femininity with confidence and humor.
Visually and lyrically, WID4L is obsessed with the idea of emotions becoming physical — red-stained, messy, impossible to wash away. That gothic, high-fashion aesthetic gives the EP a strong identity without overshadowing the songwriting itself. Tracks like “WID4L” and “i tell my friends” lean further into impulsivity and self-destruction, balancing sensuality with self-awareness.
At times, the EP circles similar emotional themes a little too closely, but Benediktson’s honesty and clear artistic vision keep it compelling. WID4L doesn’t try to offer healing or resolution — it lives entirely in the space between knowing better and doing it anyway. Bold, cohesive, and emotionally messy in the best way, it’s her most confident release yet.
