EUT - 'Party Time'

7/10

When Dutch outfit EUT released their debut album 'Fool For The Vibes' in 2018, the release took a while for people outside of their own circles to take notice. With a distinctly bold and driven indie-rock aesthetic throughout, it wasn't until the subsequent years that many tastemakers around the world began to switch onto their sound and build the devout cult fanbase they have today. So after sometime to feel more comfortable with their growing fame and success, they have now returned with their second studio effort 'Party Time', a release that sees them broaden their horizons throughout.

Although their first record certainly had a firm and focused sound, 'Party Time' has seen them spread their creative wings to achieve a more diverse and eclectic feel this time around. While many compared their first release to the dramatic sound of St. Vincent, this new collection is oozing with 90s pop-rock sensibilities, giving it a fresh yet oddly familiar style. Bands like Garbage and Blondie seem to come to mind when listening to this new full-length, a direction that they feel very comfortable in and makes for a fun and lively listen from start to finish.

It may not be the blistering return we thought it would be, but it certainly creates a bright and uplifting atmosphere throughout its 11-track runtime. EUT may still be running along the cusp of international stardom, but their sound is something we can all understand and enjoy, giving us one of the first summertime records of the year so far.
