Florence & The Machine moved up to replace Foo Fighters at Glastonbury

After dropping out of Glastonbury late last night after lead singer Dave Grohl broke his leg at a recent show, Foo Fighters will now be replaced by Florence & The Machine as the headliners of Friday night.

Florence was due to perform just before the US rockers on the Pyramid Stage of opening night but have now been moved up a peg.

In a statement by organiser Emily Eavis, she said, “We’re very pleased to announce that Florence + The Machine will play the Friday night Pyramid headline slot, which Foo Fighters were forced to withdraw from yesterday... Once we heard the sad news that Foo Fighters had been forced to pull out, there was only one person we wanted to call and that was Florence. Every time she has played here she’s done something spectacular and we always knew she would headline the Pyramid one day. I’m delighted she’s agreed to step up to it – she’s going to smash it! Full revised Pyramid Stage set timings for Friday will be announced soon.”

Currently there is no news as to whether another band will take Florence's old slot as the penultimate act on the Friday night, as Motorhead still occupy the third space on the bill.
