Melbourne/Naarm’s Folk Bitch Trio have released 'Hotel TV', the final single before their anticipated debut album 'Now Would Be A Good Time' arrives this Friday 25th July via Jagjaguwar.
Following the lush textures of 'Moth Song', which drew praise for its cinematic scope and emotional resonance, 'Hotel TV' dives even deeper into the grey areas of intimacy and longing. Built around hushed harmonies and gently unfolding arrangements, the track is an unsettling late-night vignette that captures the creeping dissonance of emotional detachment.
“It’s about having a sex dream about somebody else while next to your partner, and your partner being a liar,” Pilkington explains bluntly.
The accompanying video leans into the song’s mood with dusty charm and dry wit. “Our vibe check for the music video was dire country town, bored and cheeky,” says Pilkington, adding that it draws on the trio’s own childhoods and the surreal monotony of touring small-town Australia.
