Foxing - 'Draw Down The Moon'

7/10

The evolution of Foxing has been an interesting one to say the least. While finding themselves a part of the US emo scene when they delivered their breakthrough debut album 'The Albatross' in 2013, their sound has slowly moved further and further away from their roots as they look to pursue a more atmospheric and progressive direction with each record that has come since. Now returning with their fourth full-length to date, 'Draw Down The Moon' sees them take the next giant step in their ever-moving direction.

Unlike most bands that stick to their guns throughout thick and thin, Foxing are always aware of not only their own age, but the age of their fans as well. While those early days would have brought in a younger and more angry crowd, that era is almost a decade ago now and so they are looking to mature their sound throughout this new collection. In all, 'Draw Down The Moon' has that air of a once despondent group who have now finally discovered who they really are. There is this strong sense of confidence and grit on this new offering, creating a warm and enticing release that only occasionally dabbles in their former selves.

Foxing have been one of the more notable cult names on the US scene for a while now, and with 'Draw Down The Moon', it is clear they are still packed full of surprises. Each track has this bold and pulsing energy behind, showing that they are very much engaged with their aesthetic and will never stop at trying to improve upon it.
