Garagee - 'Garagee III'

8/10

Throughout his illustrious tenure to date, Australian artist and producer Garagee has always looked to walk the path less trodden. Creating this beautifully rich and vivid catalogue of largely instrumental works, he has earned a solid reputation for shapeshifting his sound and aesthetic, all while managing to maintain this brilliantly absorbing flow with every he produces. And after another much-loved run of releases in recent months, he returns with his latest studio album 'Garagee III', a record that marks the next phase within his musical evolution.

Unlike anything he has delivered before, 'Garagee III' marks the first time in which he has collaborated with vocalists to create his newest material, most notably Steve Kilbey from The Church. While it certainly adds an extra layer of emotional power to his work, these guest artists have also allowed him to explore a more diverse and varied appeal, making for one of his more adventurous releases to date. Still very much akin to his sombre direction of old, this new full-length builds upon his previous material and rebrands it to deliver something far more enthralling throughout.

These last few years have certainly been a great time for innovation and self-discovery within his sound, but 'Garagee III' feels like a bold and progressive step forward for him. Brimming with these wonderfully warm and inviting textures from start to finish, Garagee continues to cement himself as one of the more captivating names doing the rounds right now.
