Georgia - 'Euphoric'

7/10

Throughout her tenure, it almost felt destined that Georgia would become part of the next wave of modern electronic artists. As the daughter of renowned producer Neil Barnes of Leftfield, electronic music was not only a massive part of her childhood, it is in her blood as well. And after the rousing response to her previous LP 'Seeking Thrills' in 2020, which also earned her a Mercury Prize nomination, she now looks to return with her latest studio album 'Euphoric', a record that sees her enter the next phase of her blossoming career.

While she has usually been one to hold complete creative control over her work, producing and performing all of her material to date until this point, 'Euphoric' sees her team up with Rostam for the release, giving it a far more organic feel throughout. Although Rostam inhabits plenty of the same adventurous aesthetics Georgia has pursued in recent years, he is also known for his more atmospheric and airy compositions, something that 'Euphoric' enjoys dabbling with at every possible opportunity.

It may not be the fully cohesive and succinct listen that 'Seeking Thrills' was, but 'Euphoric' feels like a far more creative and innovative release throughout. Branching out into new and interesting fields that stretch her own creative wings as far as they will go, it feels like the beginning of a new and revived Georgia at the helm.
