Getting To Know... Frankie 5Ø3

Blending poetic heart with bilingual flair, Virginia-born artist and Salvadoran storyteller Frankie 5Ø3 returns with his sun-drenched new single 'P0C0 A P0C0'. Fusing English and Spanish lyrics over nostalgic guitars and bright synths, the track captures that strange emotional space between joy and heartbreak, a love once full of promise now remembered in fragments. Paired with a stunning Majorca-shot video, the release marks another bold step forward for the rising artist, whose work often bridges cultures, languages, and deeply personal memories.

As both a musician and poet, Frankie 5Ø3 sees his art as a way to connect with his roots, his audience, and a younger generation of Salvadoran creatives who, like him, are navigating dual identities and complex emotional landscapes. Whether crafting heartfelt ballads or upbeat anthems with melancholy undercurrents, his music is always rooted in honesty and a desire to inspire.

So we sat down with him to discuss more about his origins and what has inspired him most over the years.

What was the first instrument you fell in love with?

The first instrument I fell in love with was the drums actually. I got private lessons from a teacher my mother knew, got to practice a lot with the worship team I was a part of in church.

What kind of music did you love when you were younger?

I listened to a lot of worship songs, on top of that a lot of Aventura , Bob Dylan, Ed Sheeran. Those guys were my go to artist for a long long time even got a mini Martin cause I was so obsessed with Ed.

What was the first album you remember owning?

The first album I remember owning was Queen by Queen. Insane time, I fell in love with one song on there called Doing alright. That music really surpasses time.

What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?

Oh there are so many songs I wish I wrote. Anything the Beatles wrote is gold so there’s that lol. Blowin in the wind by Bob Dylan. La Novelita by Aventura. The album “is this it” by the strokes is another masterpiece. I could go on forever really.

Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?

I like to write in my car funny enough. I’ll park my car by a semi busy street so some cars can pass by and distract me. If a place is too quiet I drown myself in too many thoughts so a car has grown to be a place I very much enjoy writing words.

Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?

There’s this girl, her name is Baileyrpmusic” on instagram. She has a very unique sound to her almost digicore-like but with some great guitar. If you haven’t heard her stuff I highly recommend it if you’re looking for something refreshing.

If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?

I think I’d have to say Rauw Alejandro. I went to one of his shows not too long ago and honestly being a part of something like that would be magical, would be a dream.

What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?

I think the feeling of being done with a song is the most rewarding to me. Before it’s even recorded. Just having something you’ve made with either a guitar or piano and some vocals you can perform at any time I think is the best feeling.

And what is the most frustrating part?

The worst part is having to be a musician and some sort of content creator nowadays. Before it really was how you sounded and recorded live. Now it’s much easier to record and perfect recordings so there’s a lot of music as the outcome. That results in musicians having to do things outside of music to get recognition, Tik tok is a good example.

And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?

Never stop learning. There’s no limit to music, in turn there is no limit to what you can do in music. So just keep learning from others and never be afraid to try something new.
