With a voice described as “bewitching” (The Line of Best Fit) and a sound that defies categorisation, May The Muse is back with her new single 'Cruel World', a hauntingly addictive glimpse into her highly anticipated debut album 'No Please, Yes Thank You'.
The creative project of American/German singer-songwriter Désirée Mishoe, May The Muse thrives on pushing past boundaries, moving fluidly from neo-soul to rock, goth, country, and pop. Her latest release, inspired in part by the persistent basslines of The Sisters of Mercy’s 'Floodland', channels her own version of gothic intensity, a track about finding resilience, sanctuary, and connection amid a backdrop of hardship and indifference.
So with the new single out now, we sat down with her to discuss more about her origins and what has been inspiring her most over the years.
