What was the first instrument you fell in love with?

I originally fell in love with guitar. And it’s my favorite instrument to this day. I think it has so much versatility and most of my songs lean heavily into utilising electric guitar layers.

What kind of music did you love when you were younger?

I loved Queen, Elton John, David Bowie, and Abba. Rock with heavy pop influences (or vice versa you could say). I also grew up doing musical theater so I love music with a flair for the dramatic.

What was the first album you remember owning?

The first CD I ever owned was Hilary Duff’s Metamorphosis. The original Broadway recording of Phantom of the Opera is up there as well… Haha, Enough said.

What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?

Anything penned by Phoebe Bridgers. Her lyrics have a way of really rocking my world. Right now I’m listening to “Savior Complex” on repeat.

Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?

I always start with a visual mood board. What are the colors of the song, the visual identity. Then I start to journal to pull the lyrical pieces of the song together.

Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?

Chappell Roan and Misterwives are putting out incredible pop music at the moment. I also will always love Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa and Marina.

If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?

Honestly. Chappell Roan or the Scarlet Opera. Their music is so electric just being there for that show would be insane let alone to open.

What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?

Connecting with fans. Having that full circle experience. As musicians we write and make songs to have them heard and affect others. To see that happening, to have those conversations is so fulfilling.

And what is the most frustrating part?

The self, the ego, the voices in the head that fight you every step of the way.

And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?

Make music you like, not what you think other people will like.
