Getting To Know... Rok Ali And The Addiction

After establishing themselves with their much-loved self-titled debut album last year, emerging outfit Rok Ali And The Addiction are back once again to deliver their stunning new single 'Ponder This'.

Bringing back more of that raw and driven alt-rock sound they are known for, 'Ponder This' makes for a rousing return for the band. With its bold and euphoric textures, soaring atmosphere, and mesmerising vocals layered throughout, they are returning to the fold with one of their most impactful cuts to date here.

So with the new single available to stream now, we sat down with lead singer Rok Ali to find out more about her origins and what has been inspiring her recently.

What was the first instrument you fell in love with?

The gorgeous sound of the guitar!!!

What kind of music did you love when you were younger?

Growing up in New Jersey…. Southern Rock/Hard Rock/Metal. Instrumental Symphony as well.

What was the first album you remember owning?

The Beatles – Let It Be – played it a million times.

What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?

Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck – Prong - great life lessons said so well over killer music.

Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?

I call Chris, our primary songwriter as well as other spiritual forces…

Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?

Sass Jordan, Greta Van Fleet – we have the same voice coach and his voice is gorgeous.

If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?

As a band we are huge King’s X fans!

What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?

Falling in love with the music and the band.

And what is the most frustrating part?

None of it.

And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?

Master the art of voice first…
