Vienna-based alternative rock trio Siren Call return with 'Hello Stranger', a darkly atmospheric new single that explores the emotional aftermath of watching someone once close become unrecognisable. Blending grunge-inspired textures with memorable melodies and expansive guitar work, the track finds the band leaning further into a more introspective and emotionally raw side of their sound.
Comprised of Bulgarian vocalist and bassist Yvonne Lace, Los Angeles-born guitarist Jason de Cordoba, and Hungarian drummer Gábor Szabó, Siren Call have steadily built an international following through powerful live performances and a growing catalogue of emotionally resonant alternative rock.
So with the new single out now, we sat down with them to find out more about their origins and what has been inspiring them most over the years.

What was the first instrument you fell in love with?
The first instrument I fell in love with was my voice. I was singing before I could talk and had a deep curiosity about all the different sounds and tones the human voice can create.
What kind of music did you love when you were younger?
My dad is the biggest music fanatic and I grew up with his extensive record collection. This is how I fell in love with rock music, listening to his “Aerosmith” and “Guns’n’Roses” CDs. I also spent hours watching MTV and was completely mesmerized by the cinematic music videos, like Bon Jovi’s “Always” and Meat Loaf’s “I’d Do Anything for Love”. Eventually I discovered Nirvana, and the sound of grunge shaped the style of music I would end up making with my own band.
What was the first album you remember owning?
“Strange Days” by “The Doors” on vinyl.
What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?
“Rhiannon” by Fleetwood Mac.
Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?
I light a candle and take out my journal and old acoustic guitar.
Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?
Madrugada, Queens of the Stone Age, Stone Temple Pilots, Father John Misty and Mazzy Star, to name a few.
If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?
If Hole ever gets back together, I’d love to open for them.
What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?
Experiencing inspiration and creating new songs. Being a lover of music first, every piece of music I write is a tribute to the musicians I love and admire so much.
And what is the most frustrating part?
Musicians, who are some of the most sensitive people, also need to be the most thick skinned in order to survive and keep on creating regardless of the outside world.
And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?
My bass mentor, Chris Wyse of “The Cult” and “The Hollywood Vampires” told me not to take any shortcuts when it comes to music: take your time, work on your craft and find your voice and style. In the long term, authenticity always pays off.
