Glorybots - 'Mad End'

7/10

Over this past decade, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Jalal Andre has seen his Glorybots project move from strength to strength. Blending this broad and immersive indie-rock aesthetic with a progressive approach to production across a wave of releases, he has been quick to cement himself as one of the more captivating names rising through the ranks lately. And with his 2023 LP 'Radiation Skies (Atmos)' continuing that vibrant ascent, he returns once again with his latest studio album 'Mad End', a collection that doubles down on those euphoric aesthetics he has been cultivating for himself.

Much like what his material has been leaning towards in the latter years, 'Mad End' makes for this incredibly rich and mesmerising return to form for him. Opening up with the truly anthemic 'Apnea', the track sets the tone and pace for his newest outing, he goes on to deliver some of his most compelling ideas to date. Whether he is looking to unearth some brilliantly bold and majestic anthems, or simply lure us in with a more sombre tone, Andre always manages to capture something new and interesting in which to explore, making for a wildly enjoyable and unpredictable ride throughout.

Times have certainly been busy for him recently, and 'Mad End' perfectly highlights the wondrous direction he has continued to earn a reputation for. Moving with this unbridled confidence from one track to the next, Glorybots continues to make its mark as one of the more impactful ventures on the underground scene right now.
