Herman Martinez - 'Immortal Jellyfish'

7/10

Over the last decade, US artist and producer Herman Martinez has always looked to broaden his musical sensibilities, usually using his output as a chance to venture into territory many others would be less inclined of. This has allowed him to nurture a brilliantly distinctive direction for himself, and gives rise to his ambitious qualities over the years. And after some solid support for his recent releases, he now returns with his latest studio album 'Immortal Jellyfish', a record sprawling with rich and immersive textures throughout.

Described as "existing in the spaces between other albums", it seems clear that 'Immortal Jellyfish' is more of a collection of ideas rather than a fully succinct release all of its own. But regardless of its concept, this new outing still manages to pack itself with plenty of fresh and delectable offerings, inviting a broad and dynamic aesthetic at every turn in order to keep the momentum as progressive as possible during its marathon 18-track length.

Matching the same soaring ideals he has already cemented himself with, 'Immortal Jellyfish' continues that effervescent style Martinez has been adored for since he first emerged. Brimming with this rich and emotive power from start to finish, his newest effort continues to cement his presence as one of the more adventurous names doing the rounds right now.
