The Jezabels - 'Synthia'

8/10

After receiving huge acclaim for their 2014 studio album 'The Brink', the Aussie four-piece The Jezabels have returned with their third full-length effort 'Synthia'. And while their previous releases have always had this synth-led dynamic, the album's title certainly suggests its forward presence on this new record in creating a hugely ambitious new sound.

From the start, 'Synthia' aims to be a huge album. Starting with the slow-building 'Stand And Deliver', it doesn't take long before the massive anthems begin to fire out. The rest of the record displays this fantastic versatility in its songwriting and production, giving the band a full freedom of movement within their given sound that allows them to push the boundaries and conceive something quite remarkable.

With a strong message about gender identities running throughout, 'Synthia' is more than just a fantastic album. It also carries a uplifting and positive tone about acceptances within society, thus making its message even more engaging.
