The Kooks announce new album 'Never/Know'

Indie-rock stalwarts The Kooks are back with the announcement of their latest album 'Never/Know' which is set for release on the 9th May via Virgin Music Group, marking a new era for the band as they embrace both their signature sound and fresh creative directions.

Coinciding with the album reveal, The Kooks have also dropped their effortlessly infectious and groove-driven new single 'Never Know'. The track is a vibrant, feel-good anthem that perfectly encapsulates the thrill of new romance, its breezy melody and upbeat energy reminiscent of classic road trip anthems.

Frontman Luke Pritchard explains: “It’s a love song about a cute meet with someone unpredictable. I like the idea of it being played in a convertible on a road trip somewhere ridiculous. Because really, you never know.”

The eleven-track album, self-produced by Pritchard, sees the band returning to the core of their identity, rediscovering the influences that made them one of the most pivotal indie acts of their time. 'Never/Know' is not about revisiting the past, but rather about embracing timeless songwriting and crafting a fresh sound.

“The whole thing was to just forget that the past had happened,” says Pritchard. “But to truly move forward, we had to reflect: What kind of music do we want to make, and how do we make it feel natural?”
