Marta Vega returns with breakup banger

There's something visceral happening in Marta Vega's music—a collision of grunge roughness and pop sheen that feels both urgent and inevitable. Her latest single 'Bye' is short yet utterly captivating: clocking in at a blistering 1:47, it explodes from the speakers with fuzzy, distorted guitars and relentless drums, wrapping heartbreak in a sonic assault that's as catchy as it is confrontational. The brevity works in its favour—there's no filler, no wasted moment, just pure, concentrated emotion.

The self-proclaimed "lesbian grunge soul" artist has found her sweet spot in what she describes as "Avril Lavigne meets Wolf Alice"—UK indie with teeth, pop sensibility with an edge that refuses to be polished away. Produced by Andrea Tripodi and mastered at Abbey Road Studios by Stefan Brown, 'Bye' showcases Vega's gift for turning personal turmoil into universally resonant anthems.

The accompanying video matches the track's raw intensity—a single unbroken shot following Vega as she walks and sings directly to camera, her band trailing behind her. It's intimate, urgent, and perfectly captures the restless energy that drives the song.

"'Bye' was written in just a few hours, and it really captured the emotions I was living through in that moment—the anger, the sense of loss, but also the urge to break free," Vega explains. "I actually wrote the lyrics when I was in the bathroom at the studio, just scribbling down what I was feeling. My grandma had just passed away, and it almost felt like a spiritual power was guiding me in the writing that day."

That raw honesty bleeds through every bar. Drawing vocal inspiration from Lil Peep and XXXTentacion, Vega delivers lines with an unfiltered directness that cuts through the production's controlled chaos—glitchy textures, post-punk percussion, and those gorgeously gritty guitar tones creating a restless backdrop for her melodic storytelling.

With sold-out shows across the UK under her belt and a rapidly growing online following (10k on TikTok, 5k on Instagram), Vega has been steadily building a reputation as one of the most compelling new voices in the alternative scene—an artist unafraid to wear her influences on her sleeve whilst carving out something entirely her own.
