Medalye - 'No Love Lost'

8/10

After originally starting life as a solo venture for singer and songwriter Max Medalye, the Tel Aviv-based trio Medalye have spent much of the last few months building and cultivating a distinctive direction for themselves. Exploring a broad and immersive array of aesthetics to forge their dynamic direction, including indie-pop, dream-pop, post-punk and electronica, the band have been making waves as one of the more exciting names on the rise recently. And with that buzz continuing to build, they now look to cement their legacy to date with their hotly-tipped debut album 'No Love Lost', a record that explores the wider reaches of their sound so far.

Right from the off, 'No Love Lost' sees itself as a rich and tantalising listening experience. Bringing tougher such a heady mix of influences can sometimes leave LPs feeling disjointed, but Medalye take every single track in their stride as they look add a warm and inviting texture to everything they do. Feeling both nostalgic and contemporary when it comes to production, the three-piece have unveiled a truly genre-spanning delight that breathes with this sense of vigour from beginning to end.

It may still be very early days for them right now, but 'No Love Lost' certainly makes a bold statement towards their progressive nature of late. Brimming with such fresh and enchanting appeal as it plays, Medalye look set to become one of the more talked-about acts for the year ahead with this one.
