NewDad unveil new single 'Pretty'

Rising Irish alt-rock trio NewDad return with 'Pretty', a tender and shimmering love letter to their hometown of Galway, and the latest glimpse into their forthcoming second album 'Altar', out on the 19th September. Released via Atlantic Records, the single lands with an evocative visualiser filmed in Galway, directed by longtime collaborator Peter Eason Daniels.

Where previous single 'Roobosh' raged with distorted urgency, 'Pretty' takes a softer route; wistful, glowing, and emotionally resonant. “It’s a lighter spin on the album’s homesickness theme,” says frontwoman Julie Dawson. “It’s a love song, really — about missing Galway and the peace it gave me.”

Framed by dreamy guitar textures and Dawson’s hushed vocal delivery, the track captures the ache of distance and the quiet power of place. Written during early sessions with original band member Aindle O’Beirn, Pretty reflects the band’s growth since relocating to London, an experience that informs much of 'Altar'’s emotional weight.

“Coming to a place like London really made me appreciate the calm of home,” Dawson adds. “Ireland is the altar — it’s what I worship.”
