Oh Well & Wilhelm Duke - 'The Mobius Tape'

8/10

Over these last few years, Chicago-based producer Oh Well has always looked to explore a more multifaceted appeal than many in his field. Having already tried his hand at a variety of different endeavours over the years, including indie, pop, trap and EDM, his tenure to date has been one of the more enigmatic we have come across. And after the glowing response to his much-loved 2022 EP 'The Proposal', he now teams up with emerging rapper Wilhelm Duke for their collaborative collection 'The Mobius Tape', a release brimming with more of that innovative spirit.

While Wilhelm Duke's dynamic flow certainly takes centre stage on this new EP, the diverse appeal of Oh Well's adventurous production also sits well at its heart. Creating this brilliantly fresh and immersive sound that borrows from a wide range of aesthetics throughout, this spritely three-track offering manages to pack plenty of punch across its short runtime, delivering some of his most ambitious outings to date.

Although the last few years have certainly been a great time for innovation and self-discovery for both of them, 'The Mobius Tape' still manages to find and cultivate new ideas at every turn. Showcasing this firm and confident approach to both production and direction, these two have come together to release one of the more exciting rap releases of the year so far.
